Ways to Avoid Homework

School is back in (woo hoo?) and with school comes homework. Oh joy. I have already turned in my first assignment for one class and the first assignment for the other class is due tomorrow. Do I have it done? No. Have I started it? Kind of.

Now one could say "Jenni, haven't you been in school long enough to know that you shouldn't wait until the night before (or day of, as I am fond of doing homework then as well) to do your homework?" and to those people I would say "Yes, but I am also good at finding other things to do."

For instance, after work today I went to dinner with the girls from the office, then when I came home I noticed that I was not going to make my 10,000 steps for the day, so I went on a 30 minute walk. Then when I got home I checked my email and now I am blogging. Thank you Blogger for providing another distraction from homework.

Anyways, when I go on walks, I walk around my neighborhood and look houses and plants and I try to walk on different streets so I don't get bored. And on my walk today I saw some topiaries, one was a bird with its wings spread, another looked like a bear head and the third was not filled in, so I couldn't tell what it was, but they were cool. Then I saw a dad helping his young young son into a giant tree, it was pretty funny (not a topiary, actual people). And when I was like 2 blocks from home I saw the prettiest garage door. That's right I said garage door. It was wooden and nicely varnished and shiny and clean. And since I was staring at it so intently I just about missed the lady that lived in the house turning on the sprinklers, and when I did notice her I felt stupid so then I had to comment so I told her that her garage door was very pretty and that I liked it a lot, she laughed and said thanks and said that she worked hard on it. So now I just imagine this little old lady (who was dressed in a nice dress with pearls) polishing her garage door. bah ha ha. I will have to get a picture of the door, it really was quite nice. But not today, because after all I do have homework to do. (plus I got my 10,000 steps)

And now an artsy picture of KPP.

Busy Busy

This week has been slightly busy, but don't worry I am back on the blog wagon.

So let's start from August 11th. The CAST event was on the 11th. CAST stands for Catch a Special Thrill and is an event that takes disadvantaged and disabled kids fishing. It is a super fun event! This year I carpooled up with Enrique, Tamaran and John. Here is a picture of Enrique looking suave by Rockport Reservoir.

And last Thursday, I got to go to dinner with a bunch of friends, in honor of Maha being in town. Here is a cute picture of Maha, her hubby and her darling little girl. (I would try spelling their names, but I would butcher them, sorry Maha.) Missing from the picture is her very, very cute, but VERY shy little boy. For those of you who don't know, I went to school with Maha and she moved to Kuwait after graduation (something about wanting to live with her husband), so it had been over a year since I had seen her, so it was awesome to hang out for the night. And it was also nice to see the other people that showed up as I haven't seen most of them since graduation either.

On Saturday the 18th, my team competed in the city chase event (photo scavenger hunt) for the Salt Lake County Corporate Games. My team consisted of me (duh), Tamaran, Tiffany, and Andrea (L-R). We TOTALLY won gold. It was close but the team that finished first, missed one picture, so my team won, because we were AWESOME and got them all correct. And to add insult to injury, I told the last place team (3 teams in my division) where they could get their last picture, so they got them all correct and knocked the other team to last place. oops, sorry. bah ha ha ha

When reviewing all my pictures I noticed that I have HORRIBLE posture, must work on that : ) Unfortunately this was the best picture of the bunch (what does that tell you???)

On Saturday, I also went to Mary's for a BBQ. It was very fun, even though I only knew a handful of people. But I did get to see Mary's awesome backyard (nice work Jeremy) and how big and cute Liam has gotten.

And now what you all have been waiting for...pictures of KPP. Here is KPP enjoying the box that my birthday present from my brother and his family came in. Dang, that kitty loves boxes.

And here is KPP enjoying the hydrodynamic building set Samuel, April, Ben and Zoe (my bro and fam) gave me. It is an AWESOME present. And KPP really liked drinking out of it.

oh and also this week, school started. yeah? I have two classes this semester, Groundwater, and Ecological Systems & Engineering. They both seem like they will be really good classes, but very work intensive :( Also, with the start of school, comes a crazy work schedule...good thing I graduate in 254 days. WOO HOO!

The Simpson's

I saw the Simpson's movie a couple of weekends ago. It was great, so I had to make myself into a Simpson's character. I think it looks pretty good, though she is slightly skinnier than I am, but they didn't really give me the option to customize the body.

And for those of you who are like dang I really need a new picture of KPP, don't worry I will get one updated tonight (or tomorrow)

Windows

In my lovely apartment, I have many windows, but only two that actually open and only one with a screen. Why am I bringing this up? What does this have to do with KPP the subject of this blog? WELL, Kitty PotPie likes to sit in the window with the screen, really she likes to sit in any window, but she REALLY likes to hang in an open window. And I used to believe that she really wanted to go outside and that is why she sat in the window all day, but then I was talking to this girl in one of my summer classes and she was saying that her cats did the same thing and she believed that it was like their TV and that when she let them outside they freaked out. To this I said "ya ya ya, I am sure KPP will really want to hang in the outside". So when I got home that night, KPP was trying to escape into the hall so I said to myself "hmm I am going to take her to the real outside and see what she does" So I took her on the porch, instantly her claws were in my shoulder and as soon as I sat down, she jumped down and hissed and ran to my apartment, right then I knew that the girl was right and KPP likes to watch her TV, but not experience it in real life. Plus another bonus of making her go outside, is she no longer tries to escape and run up the stairs.

Here are some cute pictures of KPP in the window (with the screen).

It is like she is posing for a profile shot, she is not.

I was shocked that I actually got a shot of her not looking pissy. (yes I am crazy in the way that I believe my cat shows emotion)

Once

Tonight Annie took me to dinner (mm, mm pizza) and to see the movie "Once" to belatedly celebrate my birthday. The pizza was yummy, the company was lovely and the movie was very good. And it had lots of singing and I love singing in movies. In fact, I liked the music so much I came home and downloaded it on itunes. And since some of you maybe inclined to see "Once" I will not give anything away, but let me know what you thought of it.

And of course, your daily pictures of PotPie

I tried to get a picture of how cute she looked hanging out on her perch, but alas the flash made her eyes glow which makes her look all weird. So just imagine nice green kitty eyes instead of the lifeless eyes provided in the picture.

One of her MANY baths, also the cause of MANY hairballs. Eww gross, got one today.

And I just like this picture, even if it is slightly blurry. She just looks so dang pissy.

My fancy new panniers

So I have been riding my bike to work. I should have been riding it more, but I am pretty lazy. Anyways, I was transporting my stuff in a high-class basket that was zip-tied to my rack. It worked okay, but there was always the risk of stuff being able to fly-out when I hit the bumps. So for my birthday my mom helped me buy some fancy new panniers (aka saddle bags). As you all can see they are gray and black. They are very nice and can fit a change of clothes + jacket, a purse and my lunch box with room to spare. And of course KPP loves them. I tried for a picture of her in the bags, but I decided it was better to have non-holey panniers than a cute shot of my cat. But of course since this is a blog about Kitty PotPie here is a picture of her. Note I was trying to get a close-up on her face and she decided to investigate the camera.
This is KPP getting all embarrassed that her hair wasn't brushed.

Due to popular demand, a KPP blog has been created.

Meadow kept requesting a blog about the lovely Kitty PotPie and since I bought myself a fancy digital camera for my birthday, Meadow's dream can come true. bah ha ha. Okay so really I think she wants me to become a crazy cat lady who blogs about her cat, either way I will oblige.

This is a picture from when she was a cute sweet little kitty.

This is a picture from a couple of days ago. She really hates getting her picture taken. Probably because they allow people other than me to see her and she HATES everyone, except me.
