10k

Well, I did it. I finished a 10k! But only because my mom made me. ha ha. Really though, I think I would have been MUCH slower without her there. Thanks Mom!!

Our gun times were 1:22:10.2 and 1:22:10.5. My mom beat me by 0.3 SECONDS!! The company that did the timing had some issues with the chips, so I don't know my chip time, but my pedometer said I finished in 81 minutes. Which seems about right, because we were at the VERY back of the pack when the gun went off, so it took us a minute + to make it to the start.

Our goal had been 15-minute miles (a nice walking pace), but we ended up doing a 13-minute mile, so that was awesome. Next year I will run it in less than an hour. (I am starting to train now instead of next June)

It was a fun race. We ran a lot and saw a dead squirrel. Good times. The only issue I had with the race were some of the people on the parade route. About mile 6, there was this dude that kept yelling "Run faster, you are almost there" I wanted to go kick him in the groin and tell him that he should run 6 miles and then see if he felt running faster, but alas, I was much too tired to deviate from the road or lift my leg to deliver a swift kick.

Oh and I made my goal of finishing before the first marathoners, even though they had a 40 minute headstart on us. (I am going to ignore the fact they had to run 20 more miles than me...)

Thanks for running it with me, Mom. You = awesome.

Hairballs

Now, I know since I am posting this, I will have a hairball when I get home, but...KPP hasn't had a hairball in a week!!! So excited. That means the crazy brush and food I got last week are working! She doesn't really like the new food, but she eats it when it is mixed with her old food. Maybe she will start liking it more, because it is like $5 less that the food I had her on.

And I am run/walking the 10k on Thursday. Wish me luck! and my mom too, because I am making her run/walk it with me! (we will mostly be walking, because we are both better at walking that running) But I am happy that I feel like I can even attempt it. We shall see how I feel about it on Thursday when it is over about 8:00a....

What I put up with!

Summer means hairballs and hairballs mean I change my sheets A LOT! (I usually put a towel on my bed, but sometimes she still gets them on my sheets)
And KPP seems to believe that me changing is a game. IT IS NOT A GAME! Last week I changed sheet THREE days in a row and this is what I put up with EVERY time!

The cat jumps on the bed when the fitted sheet has been placed.

She then makes herself comfy while I straighten out the flat sheet.
The claws then come out when the sheet is over her head and I try to smooth.
She then has to be FORCIBLY removed. It does not make her happy.

If she doesn't puke a hairball on my bed, it goes on a rug, so I have also been washing a lot of rugs. While they are drying, she thinks they are a place to sleep. I am going to try to get as many yawning pictures as possible, because they make me laugh.

I think I am going to have to reestablish my spot as the alpha female in the house, because frankly she is getting WAY too comfortable.
And thanks for voting in my poll. I am still going to wait a while (the "experts" are projecting that the Utah housing market will fall a 8-10% in the next while (year?), due to Utah being #10 in the country for foreclosures). BUT I am going to go to 4 open houses this weekend, granted only 3 of them are in my budget : )

Home buying

Well, I was going to apply for loans this week, but frankly it freaks me out to think that my savings will be demolished if I buy a house. So, I have decided to wait until my savings is double what it is now (so another 6-8 months of saving). Plus the houses that I really wanted to go look at have been pulled off the market, so I don't feel as antsy, though I am going to have to find another solution for my heating/cooling situation if I am staying in my apartment longer (not that I haven't dealt with it for almost 4.5 years, but still)

But I thought I would find out what the internet thinks of this. Should I worry about savings and wait, or should I throw caution to the wind and buy a damn house already? Vote in my poll!!
