So by the end of the year I should be almost 50 lbs lighter, otherwise I have been kicked out of Fat Camp. And when I total everything up, 50 lbs scares me! Especially since I know I have a weakness for sugar and anything delicious (luckily, I also love veggies and healthy foods).
Needless to say, I am going to need help, but not nagging help, because that just makes me want to rebel. The help I’ll need will be the encouragement and support of my friends and family, this means, not offering sweets multiple times after I say no (and allowing me to eat them if I want to, because sometimes a girl needs some caramel), not encouraging me to skip the gym for something else (unless it is really really really good), not asking me obsessively if I went to the gym or if I am eating right, etc.
Also, to help me along I am using an app/website called myfitnesspal.com. I think it is a great app and encourage people to use it (and be my friend on it). And to add to the honesty I have going on, I am adding a tracker (see on the right of your screen). It doesn’t tell you how much I weigh, just how much I have lost, but if you all really wanted to know, I would probably tell you or you could figure it out. Just know that I started tracking at a higher weight than what my Fat Camp starting weight was, so it does not necessarily reflect how close I am to my goal for Fat Camp, but it shows my overall progress (even though I didn’t start at my highest weight).
I am going to try really, really hard not to let this take over my life, but frankly, I think it needs too or at least be my top priority for the year. But if I become too much like a one-trick pony, let me know and I will try and reign it in (pun not intended).
With all that, here are my goals for 2011. New for 2011, I am adding how I will accomplish my goals.
1. Don’t get kicked out of Fat Camp
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Lose 7 lbs every 2 months
- Track food (myfitnesspal.com)
- Exercise 4-5 times a week for at least 45 minutes – can include walks on break if they get my heart up – Track it
- Pack my own lunch 3-4 times a week (or go home)
- Walk Nova 3 times a week (that is more than now, I=bad owner, but I need to be above freezing)
- Eat breakfast I prepare EVERY DAY (okay I can eat out occasionally, like 3 times a month)
- Be honest with myself
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Open/sort/toss my mail the day I get it.
- Empty dishwasher when it is done, add dishes as soon as I finish with them
- Vacuum/Sweep once a week
- Mop at least once a month
- Put things away, don’t pile!
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Track expenses
- Quit random purchases (but not all random purchases, sometimes a girl needs to buy things she doesn't need to live, but it will make her life happier or easier - i.e. fish, pet toys, music, etc)
- Put money in my savings and if I pull out of savings I must replace what I took plus more (even if it is just a dollar) within the next month.
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Read instead of tv or really keep on keeping on (I love this goal)
How I will accomplish this goal:
How I will accomplish this goal:
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Remember that I have it.
How I will accomplish this goal:
- Since Charlie retired and isn’t here to push me anymore, I think I need to just suck it up and do it!
- Go clipless – this is a two prong approach, first prong is that it will make it easier, second is that I will have spent money so I will feel like I need to make it worth it.
How I will accomplish this goal:
- By doing secret things
What do you all (my 3 readers) think?
Also, I need to think of rewards for myself for weight loss mile stones. I have a hard time coming up with rewards, especially since I don't want them to be food related. Suggestions would help.

I like travel as rewards (mmm.... travel). And I have been using "gear" as rewards. Like new workout clothes, and I am thinking of getting clip in pedals.
I like fitness rewards... like I have to exercise 28 days and then I can get a new workout shirt... then always the food rewards... if I eat well 6 days a week I get one free day to eat whatever the crap I want!!
Since I'm the third to comment, I hope you counted me as one of your readers!
I like your goals. My weight goal is going to be every 5 pounds (because I need motivated). And every 5 pounds I am going to buy something for me. It could be socks, a book, jewelry, clothes, etc. Doesn't matter. I tend to buy things for Jon and the kids but never splurge on myself. I'll keep each purchase under $20. That is as far as I've gotten on motivation. The fat camp lady called me today to see if I was ready to start up again. Better get my act in gear fast!
Go Jenni! As your MyFitnessPal pal, with a similar BMI and similar amount to lose, I am inspired by you, and support you! If I can ever make it to the five pound weightloss mark and keep it there without yo-yoing back up, then I will reward us by taking us out to a healthy, wonderful lunch!
Wait! I did not hit "anonymous" on purpose. It is me,Anne, your not-too-wicked stepmother.
I think all of your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely) and I know you can do it. I vow to be supportive and not suggest any deep-fried GNOs
Great goals. I think you have more than 3 readers.
