Happy Birthday, My Cute Mom!

My Mom's birthday was on Saturday and for her birthday I decided I would get some of her old family slides scanned and printed. Here are the results.

I really like how cute my Mom is in this one. She is on the left.
The whole Curtis Family
This one CRACKED me up! Auntie Carolyn's mask is SO CREEPY!! Why would you want to wear that?
I always love shots in sequence.
I never thought I looked like my Mom, but I can totally see the resemblance in this picture, which makes me very happy, because I think my Mom is beautiful. I think I even had that same haircut!
My Mom used to make us kids wear matching outfits. I now understand where she got it from.
I LOVE this picture of my Grandpa. It shows his personality and makes me miss him that much more.
My cute little Mom and her baby brother, Matthew. Notice that her belly button is covered, that means the shirt and shorts are modest. bah ha ha.
I have heard stories of my Mom's wagon for years, and now I have a picture of her with it. I guess she wore the tread off the tires carrying the kayak to the pond. And when she ruined her's, she moved on to ruin her neighbor's wagon as well.
I just thought this picture was funny. Auntie Carolyn does not look that happy to be pulling my Mom.
And I think this is the prettiest picture I have ever seen of my Grandma. She usually didn't smile in pictures, so it was nice to find one that she was smiling in and her smile makes her look all the prettier.

Love you, Mom! And Happy Birthday!

Summer Time in the City

My apartment has a couple things going for it. Air conditioning is not one of those things. So I have to be old school and use a fan and a GIANT cool air humidifier. These methods actually works quite well until the temps outside get REALLY hot.

But the best part is, KPP loves to sit by the fan when it is going, but not the front. I guess she doesn't understand how it works. Silly Kitty. Though she does understand to stand right on top of the humidifier when that is on.

I also like that she looks at the fan like "what the..." when it hits her.

Aprons and KPP!

My internet has been down for almost a week (okay I was camping too), which made me crazy and unable to blog. But today I got a new modem and now I am good to go!

First thing, I got an AWESOME half apron from Jude in Australia. I think it is so cute. Here are some pics.
Me modeling said apron. I don't think my shirt really goes with it, but whatever.
Jude also sent me a cookbook and some candy. It was basically a cherry Mounds bar. Geoff rather enjoyed it and I ate a couple of bites and it was good, though it tasted like cherries, hence Geoff got to enjoy it.
Here is a picture from our camping trip. Hazel had been jumping on my air mattress and ended up in the very corner of my tent pinned between the mattress and wall. Luckily, the mattress is light and moves easily.
And now after an absences from Kitty PotPie the Blog. KPP is making her long anticipated return!!!
It is summer now (okay officially not until Saturday, but close enough) and KPP gets even more lazy in the summer. Here she is sleeping on one of her favorite spots. The back of my couch is covered in hair, it is gross and hard to keep clean. Maybe this is why I didn't have a couch for so long...
And here she is begging for some attention.
Close-up of the begging. Totally makes me laugh, too bad I didn't record sound, because that is also hilarious.
She has been yawning a lot lately, and I just happen to catch her mid-yawn while she was lounging on my legs.

Dang, I have the cutest kitty EVER!!

Apron Swap

Darla told me about this awesome apron swap she was in a couple of months ago and I was jealous and wanted to do it too, so I made her tell me when another one happened. And sure 'nough another one did happen. This lady sets it up and then emails you with whom you are to send an apron. It kind of reminds me of a chain letter, but way more awesome, because you get an apron. Okay so I guess I could just keep the apron I made, but what fun is that?? So here is my creation. It is reversible. Which was kind of hard, because I am not the most patient sewer, and reversible is less forgiving than one sided, but overall I am happy with it, though I did burn a pocket while ironing and the fusible interfacing I used kind of bubbled, but it really was a pretty good first attempt. Now I can make a perfect one for me. bah ha ha, just kidding, I am much too lazy for that.

Oh and the fabrics are kind of crazy, but hey, what have I ever sewed that didn't have crazy fabrics???

And I have no new pictures of KPP, I can't find my camera. I am betting it is somewhere my chaotic house, but I have been too lazy to look for it. (So much for plan number 1.)
